The study is devoted to issues related to the practice of interaction between the penal system and traditional religious organizations in Russia in the context of the prospect of creating joint correctional institutions. The article discusses some controversial issues related to: the realization of the right to freedom of religion of convicts in hybrid institutions; the peculiarities of spiritual and moral care in isolated areas of existing institutions of the penal system; activities of prayer facilities in institutions subject to closure or relocation; prospects for the establishment of prison churches in joint institutions, taking into account the multi-religious composition of detainees and convicts held in various regime conditions.
