The article considers the procedure for carrying out general and individual preventive work with convicts, suspects, and accused persons who intend to commit arson on the territory of a facility of the penal system. The necessity of carrying out certain measures regarding the safe functioning of the institution of the penal system in general and ensuring the personal safety of convicts, suspects, and accused in particular is analyzed. Based on the analysis of the practical activities of correctional institutions, the author suggests an algorithm of approximate actions of their employees aimed at effectively countering the unlawful intentions of convicts in the field of arson.
