The article is devoted to the topical issues of the implementation of the national security strategy and the fight against crime. At the current stage of the development of Russian society, problems in the field of combating crime are highlighted, which have become more acute at the moment. First of all, this applies to cybercrimes, terrorism and sabotage activities. The role of criminal punishment in the formation of an effective security system in the Russian Federation is considered.
