The role of religious organizations in the probation system of convicts in the Federal Law «On Probation in the Russian Federation»

Abstract (English):
The article deals with issues related to the theory and practice of interaction between religious associations and the penitentiary system of Russia in the field of resocialization, social adaptation of convicts, the history of the care of the Christian Church for prisoners. A special role in the article is given to the study of the role of religious organizations in the probation system being formed in Russia, their rights and opportunities enshrined in the Federal Law «On Probation in the Russian Federation» are analyzed. The article considers the existing experience of interaction of the Russian penal enforcement system with traditional religious and public organizations in the field of resocialization of convicts and persons released from prison, analyzes the experience of foreign countries in implementing various rehabilitation programs at all stages of serving sentences and post-penitentiary adaptation of convicts.
